The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has classified Eritrea as the first country in the world with the highest inflation rate of 25.6 percent, followed by Chad with 21 percent, and Azerbaijan 20 percent.
The IMF attributed the high inflation to the fact that the Eritrean economy suffers from authoritarian control with a ban on all types of imports.
A previous report was issued by the British Royal Chatham House for International Affairs has stated that the Eritrean economy is on the edge of collapse because of the internally and regionally repression exercised by the Eritrean regime in addition to the international isolation imposed, especially, by the African neighboring countries.
