Following critical disputes over distribution of living and agricultural plots of ýland in the city of Halhal; the Eritrean security organ has arrested a large number of ýleading popular personalities in Halhal. Sources estimated the number of the arrested ýpeople by 35 men and two women. The sources said that the women were released ýlater. ý
Well informed sources told the Eritrean Center for Media Services (ECMS) that the ýEritrean security authorities have took the men in 27 of last November to unidentified ýplace. The sources added that the arrested people were opposing the distribution of ýland plots to people who are not residents of the area, considering that as trespass ýagainst others' rights. ý

It is worthy mentioned that the Eritrean authorities had launched similar campaign in ýthe Southern Region in 24 of last November and arrested a number of citizens ýincluding women. ý
