SPLM proposes initiative for compromise between Eritrea and Ethiopia

Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) has proposed an initiative to find out a peaceful negotiated settlement of the dispute between Eritrea and Ethiopia. During joint talks with the ruling Popular Revolutionary Democratic Front in Ethiopia; the SPLM expressed deep concern about tension in relationship between Eritrea and Ethiopia.



meanwhile, the Popular Revolutionary Democratic Front assured its readiness to accept any role that the SPLM could play to find out a negotiated peaceful settlement to solve the problem between Addis Ababa and Asmara.

The two parties have signed, after discussions, a memorandum of understanding to develop a strategic framework for future cooperation and bilateral relations in the areas of organizational construction and mass mobilization.

The SPLM Secretary General, Pagan Amum, headed the SPLM side, while member of the executive office of the Popular Revolutionary Democratic Front, Barakhat Simon, headed the Ethiopian side in the discussions. The parties have agreed to continue bilateral discussions in the capital city of southern Sudan Juba in order to reinforce the relations for the interest of the two parties and peoples of Sudan and Ethiopia.
